Hunter, the Sportsman

If you’ve read my blogs or my bio you’ll see that I’m a hunter. The other day I met someone that also shares my passion.
I’ve been hunting since I was about 14. I still remember the first time I went hunting with my Dad. Watching my dogs find the birds and seeing how happy and excited they got was awesome. Then getting home and cooking the pheasant was incredible to know that my dad had gone out that morning and worked for our dinner. I loved it from the second I walked onto the field.
Living in Staten Island, I don’t usually find many people that also hunt. I always enjoy the reaction I get from people when I tell them I'm a hunter. I guess a 21 year old girl from New York City doesn’t exactly scream hunter. I love hunting and meeting other people that feel the same way.
On August 18th, we got the chance to talk to Duncan D. Hunter. He’s running for congress to win the seat that his father, Duncan Hunter, is retiring from. He sat down with us for over an hour. He was completely honest with us. We asked him why he was running and his answer was simple. He said it was the same reason that he joined the Marines after 9/11. It was his duty. He is running for Congress because he believes he has a responsibility to work for the people of this country. He was really inspiring and made think about what I should be doing with my life.
I saw a sticker in the campaign office that read “Sportsmen for Hunter,” so I asked him if he hunted. After about an hour long conversation I got my answer. Duncan D. Hunter is definitely a sportsman and loves to hunt. He shared some great stories and pictures with us from some of his hunting trips. It’s always great to meet a fellow hunter, especially one that I think is going to make a great addition to Congress.
